Characterizing many-body localization via state sensitivity to boundary conditions

چکیده
We introduce characterizations for many-body phase transitions between delocalized and localized phases based on the system's sensitivity to boundary conditions. In particular, we change conditions from periodic antiperiodic calculate a shift in energy shifts single-particle density-matrix eigenvalues corresponding window. employ typical model studying MBL, one-dimensional disordered system of fermions with nearest-neighbor repulsive interaction where disorder is introduced as randomness on-site energies. By calculating numerically density matrix, observe that regime, both are vanishing; while extended order level spacing. also applied these transition case having next-nearest-neighbor interactions addition studied its effect transition.

Many-body localization phase transition
We use exact diagonalization to explore the many-body localization transition in a random-field spin-1/2 chain. We examine the correlations within each many-body eigenstate, looking at all high-energy states and thus effectively working at infinite temperature. For weak random field the eigenstates are thermal, as expected in this nonlocalized, “ergodic” phase. For strong random field the eigen...

In the seminal 1958 paper, Anderson cites the problem of spin diffusion as a motivation to study the quantum effect of localization [1]. The conclusion about the stability of a localized phase was actually reached there for a single quasiparticle hopping between sites with random, broadly distributed energies. The single-particle localization theory, applicable to various systems comprised of n...
متن کاملQuantum state sensitivity to initial conditions
The different time-dependent distances of two arbitrarily close quantum or classical-statistical states to a third fixed state are shown to imply an experimentally relevant notion of state sensitivity to initial conditions. A quantitative classification scheme of quantum states by their sensitivity and instability in state space is given that reduces to the one performed by classicalmechanical ...
متن کاملMany-valued judgment aggregation: Characterizing the possibility/impossibility boundary
A general model of judgment aggregation is presented in which judgments on propositions are not binary but come in degrees. The primitives of the model are a set of propositions, an entailment relation, and a “triangular norm” which establishes a lower bound on the degree to which a proposition is true whenever it is entailed by a set of propositions. Under standard assumptions, we identify a n...
